Hello all. Today is the project kick-off day for the JISC-funded “Digitised Diseases: informing clinical understanding of chronic conditions affecting the skeleton using archaeological and historical exemplars” project. We will be blogging our progress over the next 21 months. I’m hoping to cover all aspects of the project, everything from 3D laser and CT scanning, osteology, palaeopathology to file processing and texturing . I’ll also be talking to the various people involved in the project about their expertise and where they fit in with this really exciting multi-disciplinary project. Over the coming weeks I’ll add more about the project aims and objectives, press releases, mini staff profiles, photographs and other media.

Today the first project meeting was held at Bradford to get the ball rolling. As you can see, everyone looks very excited.

Today is also The Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos in Spanish), a festival celebrated in Mexico to honour deceased relatives. We think it is appropriate that our project starts today.
